Saving You Say? We’re Here to Help!

At this time of year, one of the top resolutions we hear about from family or friends is to have better control over their finances. But easier said than done. Committing to smarter money habits usually requires a bit of education and some basic willpower.

Check out some of our top tips to help you get started.

1. Automate Savings
The easiest way to stash money away is to make sure you never have it available to begin with. Creating a new dedicated savings account with automatic transfers each pay period is a great way to save. Out of sight, out of mind!

2. Bring your own lunch
Leftovers from the night before? Why not purchase some reusable Tupperware containers and start bringing your lunch to work. This is one obvious way to cut costs, and is probably much healthier than eating out.

3. Plan your groceries
Grocery shopping is one of our biggest expenses, yet we tend to waste so much food. Using your freezer and varying your supermarket shopping schedule can make a huge difference.

4. Give up the morning latte
You could easily spend over $100 a month on buying a latte each morning before work. Drinking tea, making coffee at home, or simply waking up earlier to ease into the morning are some small changes you could make to save that $100!

5. Walk to work
While it’s not feasible for everyone, walking to work is both a money-saving trick and health commitment. Why not try it for one month and save that $130 on your monthly metro card.

6. Create a money jar
We all have change hanging around the house, office, and tossed in the bottom of our bags. Buying a money jar and adding to it each day or week is an easy way to save and de-clutter.
