Is Accounting Reconciliation Automation the Key To Keeping Your Accountants?
Although we have recently moved to a smaller house, I still find cleaning the house a most unpleasant chore. And now that spring has sprung, I am really dreading the big spring cleaning weekend.
It would be great to be able to keep up the standards and the schedule that Martha Stewart proposes. Unfortunately I haven’t the staff nor do there appear to be options for automating the process of dusting all the shelves, polishing the silver or organizing the garage.
I know what needs to be done and will just have to suffer through it.
Similar to the big spring cleaning project, account reconciliations at the end of each month are dreaded. The entire team knows they either need more staff to meet the ever increasing regulations and shorter deadlines or they dream of automating some of the processes that computers and their fancy algorithms are made to do.
They know what needs to be done and will just have to suffer through it.
Many may not though. They may just move on to a more progressive financial operation with a new company. Staff increases seldom happen but accounting reconciliation automation software exists.
Robert Half Finance & Accounting just published a survey revealing that accounting and finance professionals get the most satisfaction in their careers when solving problems. Needless to say transferring numbers and formulas from last month’s Excel spreadsheet to this month’s did not rank. Nor did reconciling zero balance accounts, creating cover sheets, or chasing down signatures.
Account reconciliations and the month-end close may always be dreaded but once many accounts are system or auto reconciled, time opens up for accountants to do what they prefer to be doing, like problem solving.
