Lead With Love

This is my 2015 mantra. I’m making a conscious decision to act and react with love. Only three weeks into the year I’ve already seen my husband become even more supportive and kind. He also goes out of his way more often to do things that make my life easier. Not bad for three weeks, I’d say.

But what happens when I have to deliver bad news or I have to say something that might hurt someone?

Years ago I was told there was an old Buddhist saying that if you are going to say something that could potentially hurt someone, ask yourself these three questions first:

Q1. Is it the truth?

Before I say anything I try my best to determine if what I’m going to say is based on the truth or is the truth.

Q2. Do I have to say it?

There are many times that there is absolutely no need to say anything. It might make me feel better to say something but that is not leading with love.

Q3. Can I say it in a way that is not hurtful?

It is always worth the extra time to craft a kinder message.

Try leading with love for a few weeks and notice how it changes your relationships with your family, friends, colleagues and clients. I would not be surprised if your life gets better, easier and more loving.
